While the R5 and R6 arrive with a higher capacity battery, that battery is compatible with the EOS R and its charger, meaning this difference is easy to equalize.
Hadmy R5 for around a month now, only started playing with the 100-400 Mk 2 and 1.4 Mk3 tc recently, I am very happy with the combo, and am considering a 2x Mk 3 tc. no question that R5 and 100400 mk2 together make an amazing setup for birding but just like everything else, it may need some practice to find out all of their idiosyncrasies!
However I would need to buy a vertical grip as I have wrist problems and need the ergonomics of it. So I'm looking at an investment of ~$4,500 if I go with canon brand vert grip and USA Canon R5 with Kolari adapter and filters. My other option is buy a used 5D Mark IV for $900 on OfferUp to get me by if my camera repair is too much or impossible.
